making scientific presentations
I used to make my presentations with latex using the beamer class with help from xfig and gnuplot. However, latex does not provide the freedom I want in positioning of images and I want to try something different than xfig. In search of a new tool/language for presentation, I stumbled upon html5/java-script based presentations, such as impress.js. An advantage of such presentations is that they can be seamlessly integrated with a website (no need to download a pdf).
While making scientific presentations, integrating plots and equations should be easy. In web-based presentations, a natural form for these are svg, see latex to svg and plots to svg.
